Camy Shanghai Dumpling & Noodle Restaurant Review - Melbourne Chinatown

After watching Anthony Bourdain's on TV travelling through Shanghai and eating what seemed like the most delicious Chinese food I have ever see I could no longer resist the urge to go out and order a whole plate of dumplings.

It was a Sunday and my usual favourite dumplings place Shanghai Street Dumplings was closed. Instead we managed to stumble on Camy  Shanghai Street dumplings which is open every day!

We ordered a plate of boiled vegetarian, boiled prawn, and fried pork dumplings. The dumplings here are smaller than what I was used to. One person can easily eat an entire plate of 15 of their mini dumplings. At first the dumplings look OK but as soon as you take your first bite you'll notice something is not right here. The dumplings were only slightly warm, not steaming and hot as you'd expect. They did not taste like freshly made, but like they were made 2 days ago and simply reheated when we ordered them.

To add to that the service was simply awful. I don't like to be harsh about service but these guys never smile, can't wait to stop talking to you, forget to bring your beer, and worst of all make BAD dumplings - a heinous crime. To top it off, the atmosphere feels like you're in a homeless shelter which plays horrendous music, cough cough Britney Spears, Eminem, I mean c'mon this is a Chinese restaurant! Stay away from this place.
